- Sourdough bread
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (chives or parsley)
- Optional toppings: Sautéed mushrooms or tomatoes
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Slice sourdough bread to about an inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
- Watch closely as the butter melts and bubbles.
- Crack the egg into a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
- Lay the sourdough bread in the skillet once the butter turns golden brown.
- Toast for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Flip the slice and add the egg to the skillet.
- Cook the egg to your desired doneness (2-3 minutes for runny yolk).
- Sprinkle fresh herbs on top of the egg.
- Remove from skillet, plate, and enjoy with additional brown butter if desired.
Notes
Use a nonstick or cast-iron skillet for the best results. Pay close attention to avoid burning the butter.
