Description
A simple yet flavorful dish made with garlic and turmeric that brings warmth and comfort to your table.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long grain or jasmine rice
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- Fresh herbs (parsley or cilantro) for garnish
Instructions
- Sauté the aromatics: Start by heating olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Then, add minced garlic and turmeric. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the rice: Pour in the rice, stirring it to coat with the aromatic mixture.
- Simmer: Add in the broth, bring the mixture to a simmer, and then cover. Reduce the heat to low and set a timer for 15 minutes.
- Fluff and serve: Once the timer goes off, remove from heat and let it sit for 5 additional minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork, stir through your choice of fresh herbs, and serve warm.
Notes
Be careful not to burn the garlic while sautéing, as it can turn bitter. For a gluten-free option, substitute rice with quinoa.
