Description

Warm and comforting Apple Pie Donut Holes filled with sweet and tart apples, perfect for gatherings and family moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 medium apples, chopped (mix of Granny Smith and Fuji)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces. In a skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter, add apples, cinnamon, and sugar, and sauté until softened for about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In another bowl, whisk together milk and eggs, then mix into the dry ingredients until a dough forms. Fold in the cooled apple mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a large pot or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. While warm, dust with powdered sugar or dip in cinnamon-sugar mix.

Notes

Test the oil with a small piece of dough before frying. Don’t overcrowd the pot when frying for the best texture.
