Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
- Combine: Pour the yeast mixture into the well, along with olive oil. Stir gently until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn onto a floured surface. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Form the pizza: Punch dough down, divide into two balls, and roll each on a floured surface to desired thickness.
- Preheat the oven: Preheat to the highest setting, ideally around 475°F (245°C).
- Add toppings: Top your rolled-out dough with sauce, cheese, and toppings.
- Bake the pizza: Transfer to the hot stone or baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
