Description
A comforting one-pan dish that combines the classic flavors of a cheeseburger with hearty rice, crispy bacon, and creamy cheese, perfect for family dinners and casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup long-grain or jasmine rice
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon but keep the drippings in the skillet.
- Sauté the onions in the same skillet until translucent, about 4 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Add ground beef and break it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and mustard powder.
- Stir in rice, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
- Pour in beef broth and bring to a gentle boil. Cover and reduce to a simmer for about 15 minutes, or until rice is tender.
- Fold in the crispy bacon and sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Cover to melt cheese.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped chives or parsley.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey for beef and use brown rice. Experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack.
