- 1 Pork Shoulder (Boston Butt)
- 1 cup Barbecue Sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
- 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
- 1 tablespoon Cumin
- 1 pinch Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Onion, sliced
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 cup Liquid (broth, cider, or beer)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pork: Trim excess fat from pork shoulder and cut into large chunks.
- Season Generously: Rub spice mix all over the pork and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Sear the Meat (Optional): Sear seasoned pork in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
- Layer the Ingredients: Place onions and garlic in slow cooker, then add pork and barbecue sauce.
- Set and Forget: Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
- Shred and Serve: Shred the pork and mix it back with the sauce.
- Taste and Adjust: Adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Enjoy: Serve on buns, over rice, or as a stand-alone dish.
