  • 1 cup Barbecue Sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin
  • 1 pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 cup Liquid (broth, cider, or beer)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pork: Trim excess fat from pork shoulder and cut into large chunks.
  2. Season Generously: Rub spice mix all over the pork and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  3. Sear the Meat (Optional): Sear seasoned pork in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
  4. Layer the Ingredients: Place onions and garlic in slow cooker, then add pork and barbecue sauce.
  5. Set and Forget: Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  6. Shred and Serve: Shred the pork and mix it back with the sauce.
