Description

A delightful dessert layering chocolate cake, whipped cream, and cherries, perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate Cake (homemade or store-bought)
  • Tart Cherries (fresh or canned)
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Chocolate Shavings or Grated Chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking pan.
  2. Combine dry ingredients, mix butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs and vanilla, then alternate flour mixture and milk. Pour into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  3. If using fresh cherries, wash, pit, and lightly mash. Drain canned cherries, saving the juice.
  4. Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  5. Layer chocolate cake cubes, cherries, and whipped cream in a trifle dish, repeating layers and finishing with whipped cream.
  6. Top with chocolate shavings and drizzle with cherry juice. Chill for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add coffee to the cake batter. Keep layers separate until ready to serve to avoid sogginess.
