Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a pound cake pan by greasing it with butter and lightly flouring it.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: whole wheat flour, black sesame seeds, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Cream the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one.
  6. Combine the dry mixture with the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and finishing with flour.
  7. Fold in extra black sesame seeds.
  8. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
