- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
- 1 cup chocolate chunks or chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and fragrant. Set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, folding gently until just mixed.
- Fold in the toasted pecans and chocolate chunks.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are just set.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For a nut-free version, omit the pecans. You can substitute bourbon with aged rum or additional vanilla extract.
