Description

A comforting Southern classic featuring tender chicken breasts coated in a crispy, seasoned batter, perfect for gatherings and family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable or peanut oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Begin by tenderizing the chicken breasts to about ½ inch thick.
  2. Soak the chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Mix the seasoned flour in a bowl with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  5. Coat each chicken piece in the seasoned flour, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through to 165°F.
  7. Place the fried chicken on a wire rack to drain excess oil and maintain crunch.
  8. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

For richer flavor, consider using chicken thighs. Make sure to check oil temperature while frying to prevent soggy breading.
