Description
A comforting Southern classic featuring tender chicken breasts coated in a crispy, seasoned batter, perfect for gatherings and family meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable or peanut oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Begin by tenderizing the chicken breasts to about ½ inch thick.
- Soak the chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Mix the seasoned flour in a bowl with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Coat each chicken piece in the seasoned flour, allowing excess to drip off.
- Fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through to 165°F.
- Place the fried chicken on a wire rack to drain excess oil and maintain crunch.
- Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
Notes
For richer flavor, consider using chicken thighs. Make sure to check oil temperature while frying to prevent soggy breading.
