Description
Deliciously tender scones infused with rich chocolate and robust coffee, perfect for breakfast or snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the brewed coffee, egg, and heavy cream. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture.
- Gently mix until combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a disc about 1-inch thick, and cut into wedges or round shapes.
- Place scones on the baking sheet, brush with heavy cream, and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Ensure your butter is very cold for the best flaky texture. Avoid overmixing the dough to prevent dense scones.
