- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Chocolate chips or chunks for filling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add in the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Roll the dough into balls about one inch in diameter and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Press your thumb gently into the center of each ball to create an indent.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the center remains soft.
- Deepen the thumbprint and fill with chocolate as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
If the dough is too soft, refrigerate for 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
