Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Whisk until creamy.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring gently.
  5. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cupcakes cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Frost with your choice of frosting once cooled and decorate as desired.

Notes

Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
