- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Whisk until creamy.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring gently.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Frost with your choice of frosting once cooled and decorate as desired.
