- Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and nutmeg. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pipe or scoop dough into wreath shapes on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of the cookies for decoration.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the dough. If the dough is too warm, chill it briefly before shaping.
