- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed espresso or dark roast coffee
- 24 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of espresso or coffee and allow it to cool.
- In a bowl, whisk the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy, then combine with the mascarpone.
- Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form and gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, being careful not to soak them too long.
- In a glass dish, layer soaked ladyfingers then mascarpone mixture, repeating until ingredients are used, finishing with mascarpone.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
Notes
For an extra flavor, consider adding a splash of coffee liqueur to the coffee mixture. Ensure that the tiramisu is layered evenly for best texture!
