Description

A classic tiramisu that beautifully balances rich mascarpone and bold espresso, making it a perfect dessert for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso or dark roast coffee
  • 24 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Brew a strong cup of espresso or coffee and allow it to cool.
  2. In a bowl, whisk the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy, then combine with the mascarpone.
  3. Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form and gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, being careful not to soak them too long.
  5. In a glass dish, layer soaked ladyfingers then mascarpone mixture, repeating until ingredients are used, finishing with mascarpone.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or overnight.
  7. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.

Notes

For an extra flavor, consider adding a splash of coffee liqueur to the coffee mixture. Ensure that the tiramisu is layered evenly for best texture!
