Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and salt.
  5. Add in the fresh cranberries and orange zest, stirring until evenly distributed.
  6. Shape the dough into a rectangle, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  7. After chilling, slice the shortbread into squares or wedges and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
