Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or dried cranberries
  • 2 cups apples, diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup onions, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by cutting it into cubes and lightly toasting them in the oven or on a skillet.
  2. Sauté the onions and celery in melted butter over medium heat until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Mix in chopped apples and cranberries, warming them through.
  4. Combine the toasted bread with the sautéed mixture, herbs, and pour in broth until moistened.
  5. Bake in a greased baking dish at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes covered with foil, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let the stuffing rest for a few minutes before serving.
