- 1 loaf sourdough or French bread, cubed and lightly toasted
- 2 cups fresh or dried cranberries
- 2 cups apples, diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup onions, diced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
Instructions
- Prepare the bread by cutting it into cubes and lightly toasting them in the oven or on a skillet.
- Sauté the onions and celery in melted butter over medium heat until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix in chopped apples and cranberries, warming them through.
- Combine the toasted bread with the sautéed mixture, herbs, and pour in broth until moistened.
- Bake in a greased baking dish at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes covered with foil, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the stuffing rest for a few minutes before serving.
