Description
A comforting dish that combines succulent shrimp in a rich, creamy garlic-paprika sauce, perfect for weeknights or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- If using frozen shrimp, ensure they are completely thawed and pat them dry to achieve a nice sear.
- In a large skillet, combine olive oil and butter over medium-high heat until sizzling.
- Add minced garlic and diced onions, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Toss in the shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
- Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Let the shrimp simmer gently in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in chopped parsley or cilantro just before serving.
- Serve with rice, pasta, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream. For a vegetarian option, replace shrimp with cooked chicken or tofu.
