Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sugar (or honey/maple syrup as a substitute)
  • 1/2 cup citrus juice (orange or lemon)
  • 1 tablespoon citrus zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 packet pectin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients: Rinse the cranberries and peel, core, and chop the apples. Zest and juice your citrus fruits.
  2. Mix everything in your slow cooker: Combine the cranberries, apples, sugar, citrus juice, zest, and spices. Stir gently.
  3. Set your slow cooker on low for about 240 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  4. Add pectin 30 minutes before it’s done if you desire a thicker texture.
  5. Jar it up once thickened, ladling into sterilized jars leaving space for expansion.
  6. Cool and store: Allow jars to cool completely before sealing. Refrigerate for up to 14 days.

This jam can be frozen for up to a year. It also pairs well with cheese, toast, and savory dishes.
