- 2 lbs ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup diced onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sliced button or cremini mushrooms
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- Sauté the Aromatics: In a skillet, add a drizzle of olive oil and sauté diced onions and minced garlic over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, sautéed onions and garlic, sliced mushrooms, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the Loaf: Lightly grease your crockpot and shape the meat mixture into a loaf inside the crockpot.
- Add the Toppings: Mix ketchup with brown sugar and spread it evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Cook Slowly: Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
- Check for Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
- Serve and Enjoy!: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite sides.
