Description

Delicious and soft sugar cookie bars, perfect for the holiday season and sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • Milk (as needed for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Bake the mixture in the prepared pan for 20-25 minutes, or until light golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool the bars in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Frost with icing made from icing sugar and milk, adding food coloring for a festive touch.
  8. Slice into squares and serve with festive sprinkles.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil for butter. You can also use flax eggs to make it vegan.
