Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups icing sugar
- Milk (as needed for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Bake the mixture in the prepared pan for 20-25 minutes, or until light golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the bars in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with icing made from icing sugar and milk, adding food coloring for a festive touch.
- Slice into squares and serve with festive sprinkles.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil for butter. You can also use flax eggs to make it vegan.
