Description

A rich and tender filet mignon topped with a creamy sauce and sautéed mushrooms, perfect for special occasions or cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 Filet Mignon steaks
  • 1 cup cremini or shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • Fresh thyme and parsley, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring the filet mignon to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Season both sides with salt and freshly cracked pepper.
  3. Heat equal parts butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the filet for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  5. Transfer the steak to a plate and cover loosely with foil to rest.
  6. Add more butter to the skillet and sauté the mushrooms until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, then deglaze with white wine.
  8. Let the wine simmer for a minute, then stir in the heavy cream.
  9. Reduce the heat, add herbs, and allow the sauce to thicken for about 5 minutes.
  10. Slice the filet mignon and drizzle the creamy sauce over the top before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half of the cream with chicken stock. Don’t rush the cooking process for the best results.
