- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in sugar until glossy.
- Cool slightly and whisk in eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated.
- Gently fold in cocoa powder and salt until no streaks remain.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for about 25 minutes until set at the edges but slightly soft in the center.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack and cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
For a denser cake, refrigerate overnight. Serve cold for enhanced flavor!
