Description
A delightful dish featuring fresh trout seared in garlic butter, enhanced with lemon and parsley for a burst of flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Fresh Trout, cleaned
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 2 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
- Juice of 1 Lemon
- Zest of 1 Lemon
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
- Optional: Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the Trout: Begin by cleaning the fish thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels to ensure a nice sear. Season the trout generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat the Butter: In a large skillet, melt 1 to 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-high heat. Swirl the pan to coat evenly.
- Add Garlic: Once the butter is bubbling, toss in finely chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant—around 30 seconds. Keep an eye on the garlic; you don’t want it to burn.
- Sear the Trout: Gently place the trout in the pan, skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving it, allowing it to develop a crisp skin.
- Flip and Add Lemon: Once the skin is golden brown, carefully flip the fish. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over it, and add more butter if desired. Spoon the melted butter over the fish to keep it moist as it cooks for another 3-4 minutes.
- Finish with Herbs: In the final minute of cooking, sprinkle fresh parsley over the trout. This adds a burst of color and flavor.
- Serve: Remove from heat and let rest for a minute. Serve warm, garnished with lemon wedges for an extra squeeze if desired.
Notes
For a perfect sear, ensure your skillet is hot before adding the fish. Avoid flipping the trout too soon to achieve a nice sear.
