Description

A decadent pie featuring layers of rich chocolate filling, topped with a creamy coconut and pecan frosting, evoking memories of home and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup chilled, cubed butter
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Additional sweetened condensed milk for topping
  • Water (for dough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a food processor, pulse together flour and butter until the texture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add water until the dough comes together, roll into pie pan, and chill.
  3. Melt chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in sweetened condensed milk. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Pour chocolate filling into the prepared crust and bake for 30-35 minutes, until set but slightly jiggly.
  5. While cooling, mix coconut and pecans in a bowl, and stir in additional sweetened condensed milk.
  6. Spread the coconut-pecan mixture over the cooled pie. Let set before slicing.
  7. Serve with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

Notes

Ensure the pie cools completely before adding the topping to prevent melting. Use an oven thermometer to check accuracy.
