Description
A decadent pie featuring layers of rich chocolate filling, topped with a creamy coconut and pecan frosting, evoking memories of home and family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup chilled, cubed butter
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- Additional sweetened condensed milk for topping
- Water (for dough)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a food processor, pulse together flour and butter until the texture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add water until the dough comes together, roll into pie pan, and chill.
- Melt chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in sweetened condensed milk. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs and vanilla.
- Pour chocolate filling into the prepared crust and bake for 30-35 minutes, until set but slightly jiggly.
- While cooling, mix coconut and pecans in a bowl, and stir in additional sweetened condensed milk.
- Spread the coconut-pecan mixture over the cooled pie. Let set before slicing.
- Serve with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
Notes
Ensure the pie cools completely before adding the topping to prevent melting. Use an oven thermometer to check accuracy.
