Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- ¾ cup molasses
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add in your molasses and egg, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients with the wet mixture.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 120 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once chilled, roll out the dough on a floured surface about ¼ inch thick and cut out gingerbread men.
- Place cutouts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
- Let cool completely before decorating.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent spreading. Decorate with icing and sprinkles for added fun!
