Instructions
- Heat a heavy-bottom skillet over medium heat and melt the butter or olive oil.
- Add the diced mushrooms and sauté until they brown and release their moisture, about 5-7 minutes.
- Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the flour, stirring until combined and light golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the vegetable broth, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens.
- Incorporate the chosen herbs and season with salt, pepper, and optional sauces.
- If using cream, add it in at the end for extra richness, and adjust seasoning as desired.
- Let it simmer for a few minutes before serving over your favorite dishes.
