- 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup whole or slivered almonds (toasted if desired)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and almond extract until well incorporated.
- Spread the coconut mixture into a greased 9×9 inch baking dish and press down firmly.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the coconut is lightly golden.
- While the base cools, melt chocolate and butter together until smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the baked coconut base and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped almonds on top or fold them into the chocolate.
- Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until the chocolate sets.
- Cut into squares or rectangles and serve.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, use coconut or almond-based condensed milk and a dairy-free butter substitute.
