Delightful homemade Twix bars with a buttery cookie base, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup All-purpose flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
- 1/2 cup Butter, softened
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Cream
- A pinch of Salt
- 1–2 cups Chocolate (semi-sweet, dark, or milk)
- A pinch of Sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until fluffy. Gradually add the flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until just combined.
- Press this dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let it cool completely.
- Combine granulated sugar and a splash of water in a saucepot over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves, then let it bubble until it turns a deep amber color.
- Remove from heat and carefully whisk in cream, adding salt. Pour this over the cooled cookie base.
- Let it set for about 30 minutes.
- Melt your chocolate and pour it over the caramel layer.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into desired sizes.
