Description

Delightful homemade Twix bars with a buttery cookie base, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Cream
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 12 cups Chocolate (semi-sweet, dark, or milk)
  • A pinch of Sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until fluffy. Gradually add the flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until just combined.
  3. Press this dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let it cool completely.
  5. Combine granulated sugar and a splash of water in a saucepot over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves, then let it bubble until it turns a deep amber color.
  6. Remove from heat and carefully whisk in cream, adding salt. Pour this over the cooled cookie base.
  7. Let it set for about 30 minutes.
  8. Melt your chocolate and pour it over the caramel layer.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into desired sizes.

Notes

These bars can be stored at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze.
