A nostalgic and delicious Honey Bun Cake with a rich, buttery flavor and a delightful cinnamon-sugar swirl.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (buttermilk preferred)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (3 to 5 minutes).
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
- Pour half the batter into the pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture over it, pour the remaining batter, and finish with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mix. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake and let it soak in before serving.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil or plant-based butter. For a vegan option, use flax eggs.
