Impossibly Creamy Coffee Crème Brûlée

Description

A luscious dessert blending rich coffee flavor with smooth custard and a crisp caramelized sugar topping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup freshly brewed coffee
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and coffee over medium-low heat until simmering.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Gradually pour the warm cream mixture into the egg mixture while whisking constantly.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into another bowl.
  7. Pour the custard into ramekins and place them in a baking dish filled with hot water halfway up the ramekins.
  8. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the edges are set but the center jiggles slightly.
  9. Cool and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  10. Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize using a kitchen torch or broiler.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or fresh raspberries for contrast. Store leftovers in the fridge without caramelizing the sugar until ready to enjoy.
