- 4 cups Rice Chex cereal (or a mix of Corn and Wheat Chex)
- 1 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts)
- 2 cups mini pretzel twists
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- Optional: dried fruits or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- In a large bowl, combine your chosen Chex cereal, nuts, and pretzel twists. Toss gently to mix evenly.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Mix in the brown sugar and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until combined and it comes to a gentle boil. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the cereal mix, stirring gently to coat evenly.
- Spread onto a lined baking sheet in an even layer.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before breaking apart.
Notes
For best results, do not rush the cooling process as this helps the toffee set perfectly around the cereal.
