Description
A delightful and simple homemade jam made with strawberries and blueberries, perfect for festive mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1 cup fresh blueberries, rinsed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 packet pectin (if using)
Instructions
- Prep your fruits: Start by washing and hulling the strawberries, and rinsing the blueberries. Slice the strawberries into halves or quarters.
- Combine ingredients: In a large pot, combine the prepared fruit, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir everything together gently before placing over medium heat.
- Cook the mixture: Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil, stirring frequently.
- Add pectin: Once boiling, stir in pectin according to package instructions and continue to boil for 1-2 more minutes.
- Check the consistency: Place a spoonful of jam on a cold plate; if it holds its shape, it’s ready for jarring.
- Jar it up: Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4-inch headspace. Seal with clean lids.
- Refrigerate and store: Once cooled, store in the refrigerator or process in a water bath for long-term storage.
Notes
Use fresh, ripe fruits for the best flavor. Stir often to prevent sticking, and be mindful of humidity affecting pectin setting.
