- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 1 ½ tsp Baking Powder
- ¼ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Zest of 1 Lemon or Orange (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch springform pan and lightly flour it or line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the ricotta cheese and sugar until creamy with no lumps.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and citrus zest if using.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, decrease the sugar and increase the ricotta. Serve with fruit compote or vanilla ice cream.
