Ingredients
- Pasta (spaghetti, penne, or whole wheat)
- Fresh broccoli florets
- Fresh garlic cloves
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Fresh parsley or basil
- Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add your chosen pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
- Heat a generous drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Toss in the broccoli florets and sauté for 3-5 minutes until they turn bright green and are tender-crisp.
- Combine the drained pasta with the broccoli in the skillet. Add a splash of reserved pasta water and the lemon juice. Mix well.
- Finish by tossing in fresh herbs and, if desired, a sprinkle of Parmesan. Serve warm and enjoy!

For added flavor, consider adding red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon zest.
