Description
A delightful blend of buttery puff pastry and earthy sautéed mushrooms with fresh thyme, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- Puff Pastry
- Fresh Mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, button)
- Fresh Thyme
- Garlic
- Butter
- Cream Cheese
- Egg Wash (beaten egg or milk)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Finely chop your mushrooms and garlic, and measure out the thyme and cream cheese.
- Sauté the filling: In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms and garlic, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until soft.
- Stir in the fresh thyme, then remove from heat and let cool before mixing in the cream cheese.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into squares (approximately 4×4 inches).
- Place a tablespoon of the mushroom filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold the edges over and seal using a fork.
- Brush the tops with the egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Make sure the filling is cool before placing it on the pastry to prevent sogginess. Avoid overfilling the squares to prevent breakage.
