Description

A delightful blend of buttery puff pastry and earthy sautéed mushrooms with fresh thyme, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry
  • Fresh Mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, button)
  • Fresh Thyme
  • Garlic
  • Butter
  • Cream Cheese
  • Egg Wash (beaten egg or milk)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Finely chop your mushrooms and garlic, and measure out the thyme and cream cheese.
  2. Sauté the filling: In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms and garlic, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in the fresh thyme, then remove from heat and let cool before mixing in the cream cheese.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into squares (approximately 4×4 inches).
  5. Place a tablespoon of the mushroom filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold the edges over and seal using a fork.
  6. Brush the tops with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Make sure the filling is cool before placing it on the pastry to prevent sogginess. Avoid overfilling the squares to prevent breakage.
