Description
A nostalgic recipe for creamy mashed potatoes infused with garlic, perfect for family gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup cream or whole milk
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Peel and cut the russet potatoes into chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water, adding a generous amount of salt.
- Bring the pot to a boil and cook the potatoes until fork-tender.
- While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a skillet and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash them using a potato masher or ricer.
- Slowly incorporate the melted butter and garlic mixture, along with the cream or milk, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix until smooth.
- For added flavor, fold in freshly chopped herbs like parsley or chives before serving.
Notes
Avoid over-mixing to keep the potatoes fluffy. Warm your cream or milk before adding to prevent a gummy texture.
