Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (mix in pork for richness)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 2 tsp fresh parsley
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Sauté the onions and garlic in a skillet with oil until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Brown the ground meat in the skillet until no pink remains.
  4. Add the diced carrots and peas along with fresh herbs, and pour in broth. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare your pie crust by laying it in a deep-dish pie pan.
  6. Scoop in the meat mixture, then cover with a top layer of dough if desired.
  7. Seal the edges and create vents in the top crust.
  8. Brush the crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  10. Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
