Description

Tender meatballs soaked in a savory onion gravy, bringing comfort food to a whole new level.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey
  • 2 Sweet Yellow Onions, sliced
  • 1 cup Italian-seasoned Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Thyme or Parsley, chopped
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions: Heat some olive oil in a skillet, add onions and salt, and cook low and slow until caramelized (20-30 minutes).
  2. Make the meatball mixture: In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and herbs. Mix gently.
  3. Form the meatballs into medium-sized balls.
  4. Layer half of the caramelized onions in the bottom of the Crock Pot, place meatballs on top, and add the remaining onions.
  5. Pour beef broth over the mixture, ensuring the meatballs are submerged.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  7. Serve the meatballs with fresh herbs and enjoy with sides such as mashed potatoes or crusty bread.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or a plant-based alternative. The flavor is enhanced by searing meatballs first before slow cooking.
