Description

Deliciously rich and chewy cookie bars filled with chocolate chips and hints of vanilla, perfect for sharing with loved ones.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely, then cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute coconut oil for butter and use flax eggs instead.
