Description
A comforting and rich pasta dish infused with garlic, mushrooms, and fresh herbs, perfect for family gatherings and weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz Mostaccioli pasta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 8 oz cremini and shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh oregano, chopped
- 1/2 cup Parmesan or mozzarella cheese, grated
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Begin by boiling salted water in a large pot. Add Mostaccioli and cook until al dente, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water for later.
- Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the Mushrooms: Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Pour in your marinara sauce and a splash of reserved pasta water to thin it out. Stir the pasta into the sauce mixture.
- Season to Taste: Add additional herbs or salt and pepper to enhance flavors.
- Finishing Touches: Sprinkle in cheese and let it melt slightly before serving.
- Serve and Enjoy: Dish out the Mostaccioli and gather around for a comforting meal.
