Description
Delicious meatballs filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for family gatherings and cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, turkey, or chicken)
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp fresh herbs (basil, parsley, or oregano)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped herbs, minced garlic, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
- Take a handful of the meat mixture, flatten it in your palm, place a piece of mozzarella in the center, and carefully fold the meat around the cheese to form a ball.
- Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.
- If desired, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for a crispier exterior. Serve over marinara sauce, spaghetti, or as an appetizer.
Notes
For best results, avoid overmixing the meat to keep the meatballs tender. Allow to cool slightly before serving for the cheese to settle.
