- 2 cups pretzels
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Crush the pretzels using a food processor or a rolling pin in a bag.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and stir until thickened and bubbling.
- Add the crushed pretzels, mixing until coated in the caramel mixture.
- Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper, pour in the mixture and press down firmly.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a bowl and pour over the cooled pretzel layer, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top and let the bars cool for about 2 hours.
- Lift out the bars using the parchment overhang and cut into squares to serve.
Notes
For a nutty twist, consider adding chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts. Allow time for the bars to completely set for the best texture.
