Delightful scones infused with the bright zest of oranges and the warm spices of chai tea.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- 1 teaspoon chai spice blend (cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or yogurt
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chai spice blend.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cream, orange zest, and orange juice. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times. Pat into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 8 triangles or use a round cutter.
- Arrange the scones on the baking sheet, brush with cream for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes clean.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or clotted cream. For a twist, add chocolate chips or nuts.
