Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour and sugar, then cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased baking dish to create an even base and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
- Pour the filling over the baked crust, spreading it evenly.
- Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until the filling sets and edges are bubbling.
- Cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar for a touch of elegance.
Notes
Letting the bars sit in the fridge for a couple of hours enhances the flavors and makes slicing easier. Avoid overmixing the filling.
