- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, pumpkin spice, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Cut in chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree and heavy cream until smooth. Gradually add to dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead gently and form into an 8-inch circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 8 wedges, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden; cool for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and cream for the glaze, and drizzle over scones once cooled.
- Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with coconut oil and heavy cream with a non-dairy alternative.
