Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time and then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
  6. Add red food coloring until desired shade is reached and mix.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely before preparing the frosting.
  9. Blend cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and spread over the cooled brownies.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.
