Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon red gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and red food coloring.
  5. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk until well combined.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop the dough, roll into balls, and coat in powdered sugar.
  8. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle sea salt on top immediately after baking.
