Description
A delightful marriage of moist cake studded with sweet apples and drizzled with luxurious salted caramel, perfect for fall gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a rimmed baking sheet by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Peel and core the apples, then chop them into bite-size pieces. Toss them in lemon juice.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the milk until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Prepare the salted caramel sauce while the cake bakes. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and heavy cream over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
- After the cake cools slightly, drizzle the warm salted caramel sauce over the top and allow it to cool completely before cutting into squares.
