A decadent cake featuring moist layers and rich salted caramel, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp sea salt (for caramel)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each before adding the next; then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir continuously until it comes to a gentle boil, then remove from heat and add sea salt.
- Divide the batter between your prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes completely before frosting with salted caramel frosting and drizzling any remaining caramel on top.
- Slice and enjoy!
Notes
